Fist of Emirikol by smart-pencil Fist of Emirikol by smart-pencil
This is a leather replica I made of the Dungeons and Dragons artifact, "The Fist of Emirikol". I made it for the actual player of the original Emirikol the Chaotic, who played with Gary Gygax at a convention and thus the artifact was created.

It is about 8" in diameter and is evenly weighted for proper rolling.

It is the unopening version of my "Die of Holding" dice box over at [link]

It actually worked with my first pattern. I knew that with dice (of any shape) that one side was the same as all sides, and that would make any triangle I made it with a equilateral triangle. And since all equilateral triangles are also equiangular triangles, I knew that each of the corner angle degrees was 60. After that I just had to decide on a size for the individual tile triangle (I chose 3" a side) and that was it.

What did you do to avoid a knot outside of the cube? (Or did you just hide it on the picture?)

I formed the knot on one of the corners and figured out a way to tie it on the inside via resewing through the final holes. I then pushed both needles (I use a saddle stitch technique of a needle on either end of the thread when sewing) inside and then out through an adjacent stitch line to hide some excess thread and cut the remainder right against the outside of the die. Believe me, the last tile I stitched in was a pain in my ass, but it was worth it.
